Kayan9896, born Jeannie Ng Ka-yan in Hong Kong, is a fast-rising singer-songwriter and actress whose unique fusion of Cantopop. With a bilingual repertoire and a bold, emotionally honest style, Kayan is part of a new generation of artists reshaping the sound and identity of modern Chinese-language music with global appeal.
Kayan first stepped into the public spotlight through her comedic work with the Hong Kong YouTube group Trial & Error. Her expressive screen presence, quick comedic timing, and natural charisma quickly earned her a devoted following. Her debut single “Be Around”, released in December of that year, introduced audiences to a new side of Kayan vulnerable yet confident, melodically sharp yet emotionally resonant.
Since then, Kayan has released a string of acclaimed singles in both Cantonese and English, gradually building her sonic identity while expanding her audience.
Kayan9896 release news single “Lost In The Rain” , “Lost In The Rain” was born in the quiet chaos of a breakup I didn’t expect to feel so deeply especially because I was the one who ended it. “Lost In The Rain” is a reflection of emotional contradiction, that in-between space where you know it’s over, but still secretly hope they’ll come back and make it all make sense.
